Update For New Students

We have not been able to access the blog and post this important update. Since arriving to Madinah on the 10 th of October, I have been on the officials case to speed up your process. As usual both parties, the cultural mission and the university were not really on the same page and that is the cause of the delay. Finally, a week ago I spoke to the lady in DC and asked exactly what was needed and within a day she received a second request from the university. The first being sent on the 18th of Ramadan according to university officials, which she denies. The visas were issued on the 1st of September and I saw the documents and checked the visas myself on the Ministry of Foreign affairs website. Alhamdulilah, one of the brothers posted on the blog that he received an email from DC stating that they finally recieved the letter of request to start the process of paperwork and visas.  We are eager to have you in our ranks in the prophet’s city soon. Please remain patient and in a state of Dua and beg Allah to bless you in this journey. If you are in contact with any of the new boys, let them know this to bring some comfort to their hearst as well

One of the new students posted this on the 22nd of October. “I received an email from the embassy stating that they received the letter of request from the University. They are requesting that the accepted students’ packages be sent to the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission and to make sure that all requirements are completed before anything is sent.
This is where the package is to be sent:

* URGENT * Visa Numbers

Bismillaah.

As-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

Alhamdulillaah, the American student body’s representative on campus has obtained the the visa numbers for the American accepted students and students who are currently residing in America from other nationalities. We request for the incoming students to use these numbers and contact the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Washington, D.C. as soon as possible to obtain their student visas.

The number you will be utilizing is one of the following two numbers*:

Visa #: 9400505983
Visa #: 9400505984

*: The students are divided into two groups, each having its own visa number.

May Allaah facilitate your affairs and bring you to Al-Madinah safely and in peace. We look forward to seeing you, in shaa’ Allaah.

Please Note: The visa numbers for other nationalities cannot be obtained by the American student body.

What Should a Newly Accepted Student Do?

Bismillaah.
Dear brother,

Congratulations on getting accepted. May Allah make this a blessing for you and assist you in being grateful for it. The package for new students can be accessed on our blog that you are aware of already, www.madinahstudents.wordpress.com the article is called new students’ guide. The link is  http://madinahstudents.wordpress.com/2007/03/05/new-student-guide-marriage-guide/

We would like to remind you to start the process of getting your ticket and visa from the Saudi embassy. Do not delay or procrastinate. If you did not get the letter from the University yet, it might be coming late, or might never reach. Call the Saudi Embassy in DC, but contact the Cultural Attaché (202) 337-9450 first, they will tell you the process. Main Number: (202) 342-3800 Consulate/Visa Section: (202) 944-3126

So get on the ball and do what you can until you get further instructions. Some things must be done to obtain the visa and they have nothing to do with the Universtiy. Check the following link for student visa requirments. http://www.saudiembassy.net/Travel/VisaReq-Student.asp and follow instructions.

As for the police report or clearance letter, check with a local police station. Just ask for a police report stating that you are a law abiding citizen and you do not have a criminal record. Tell them that it is for official use. It should not take that long. As for the medical report/physical test, it is an application on the aformentioned link. It is a PDF document, print it out and take it to the doctor.

The following are university requirements; get your original high school diploma and transcript which takes sometime if you don’t have them already. Remember to have all your original documents i.e. (passport, birth certificatehigh school diploma and transcript, and two letters of recomendation) translated to Arabic. You must bring all these with you to Madina to have a complete file. It might be kind of expensive, so, try to find a good Muslim translator and he/she might give you a good deal.

After you get them translated you might need to mail them to the embassy to get them attested. Call the embassy first to get the required process down and then follow up on it. Things always change.

Also, make plenty of passport pictures, you will need them.

May Allah make your affairs easy and grant you success in this life and the next.

We love you for the sake of Allah and leave you in the trust of Allah.

Admissions (repost)

As-Salamu Alaikum,In response to those in high school who are interested in studying at the Islamic University:

THE BIGGEST REASON APPLICATIONS ARE REJECTED IS BECAUSE OF MISSING REQUIRED DOCUMENTS OR LACK OF ARABIC TRANSLATION.

The general rule at the university is that those who are applying from western countries i.e. America, Canada, Europe and so forth are not allowed to come without a high school diploma.

The following conditions of admission are taken from the application:

1) An applicant must be a holder of the general certificate of secondary education (high school) or its equivalent from any of the kingdoms schools or from abroad. (A G.E.D is also accepted)

2) Not more than 5 years should have passed since the applicant obtained the general certificate of secondary education or its equivalent

3) An applicant should not have been dismissed from another university on disciplinary or educational grounds.

4) An applicant should not exceed the age of 25

6) An applicant seeking admission to the college of Qur’an should have memorized the entire Qur’an.

Along with these conditions, an applicant must present the following documents with his application:

a) A copy of high school diploma

b) High school transcript for the senior year.

c) A certificate bearing witness to the good character and religious practice of the applicant from a reliable source. ( Known as a tazkiyyah, you may acquire one from the Imam of your local mosque or from most reputable callers to Islam (du’aat) insha Allah)

d) A birth certificate

e) Six passport size photos (4×6)

f) Please have a copy of your umrah or hajj visa. (This is for students who come for Umrah or Hajj)

between October 23 till January 20 (however they usually allow people to apply as soon as school starts if you come in person) and the address for those who are not able to make umrah or come to the University for an interview is:

Deanship of Admission and Registration

The Islamic University, P.O Box 170

Madinah Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia

If you wish to contact them by phone # 011-966-4-847-1884

As for those applying as American students we request that you send your paper work to:

Note: All information is to be translated into Arabic and notarized, the university will not accept applications without Arabic translations.

Note: We can no longer help in turning in applications. If anyone comes in person we will gladly help them.

May Allah grant you all success, ameen.
